Chasing a target of 360, Virat along with Rohit looted the Australian bowlers of these runs and self-respect as they were mercilessly thrashed all over the park at Jaipur. 141 against Australia, 1st Test 2014
Virat led India in his first-ever match as a captain in whites. In a statement of intent, he decided to go for a win while chasing 364 in the final 98 overs of the match on the final day. He scored 141 in 175 balls, with 16 fours and six on this Adelaide pitch. This marked the starting point of Kohlis legacy as Test captain, marked with intent, positivity, and fearlessness.

In Mohali against Australia in the T20 World Cup, Kohli rewrote a book on finishing cricket matches in style. With 67 needed off the last six, Kohli put on a masterclass show. James Faulkner’s penultimate over was taken for 19 with Kohli taking 16 off those. The penultimate over of the match saw Kohli belt Nathan Coulter-Nile for four fours, before hitting one off Faulkner to take India home.

After failing miserably against quality pace and swing bowling in England on his first tour in 2014, Virat, now the worlds best had a lot of critics to answer.
