Briefcase Bummer: 7 WWE Cash-In Fails!

Baron Corbin (2017)

It seemed like a farce when Corbin cashed in. Jinder Mahal had successfully defended the WWE Championship in a gauntlet match, so he went for the battered Mahal. Though it appeared that Corbin would prevail, Mahal overcame the End of Days with a Khallas to triumph.

Braun Strowman (2018)

Interference thwarted Strowmans initial effort. At Hell in a Cell, he declared he would cash in on Universal Champion Roman Reigns; however, Brock Lesnar interfered, forcing a no-contest and depriving Strowman of his inevitable crack at the championship.

John Cena (2012)

It was unexpected that Cena, who is known as Mr. Money in the Bank, did not make more money with his briefcase in 2012. After CM Punk was disqualified from a WWE Championship bout against Big Show, he made an attempt to profit off Punk. But because of the disqualification, Cena was left without the gold since the title could not be transferred.

Alberto Del Rio (2011)

After CM Punk successfully defended the WWE Championship in a hard-fought battle against John Cena and Rey Mysterio, Del Rio attempted to take advantage of the situation. Even though he was worn out, Punk blocked Del Rios finisher and pinned him to keep the title.

Daniel Bryan (2011)

Following the World Heavyweight Champions decisive loss, Bryan made a contentious decision by cashing in his briefcase on The Big Show. Some fans thought Bryan looked like a cheater and it weakened the Big Shows reign, while others applauded the opportunistic attitude.

Seth Rollins (2014)

Rollins made a poorly timed debut. He took advantage of Brock Lesnar, the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, after Lesnar had just given John Cena a vicious F-5. Understandably enraged, Lesnar easily defeated Rollins to maintain his title.

Austin Theory (2022)

Outside forces thwarted Theorys next attempt to cash in. He went after US Champion Seth Rollins, but Bobby Lashley got in the way, attacking both guys and getting them disqualified. Theorys chances of winning the championship were ruined, and many of his supporters began to doubt his judgement.
