Voting for Lok Sabha Elections Process Explained
What do you need to carry?
2 documents are required. Voters must carry any 1 identity card and their voter ID card to cast their vote.

Do not carry
Ensure that you are not carrying mobile phones, cameras, or any other gadget inside of a polling booth.

Polling official
A polling official will check your name on the voter list and your ID proof. Then your finger will be inked. Next, you will receive a slip. Finally, the official will ask you to sign on a register (Form 17A).

Entering Polling booth
You will have to deposit the slip. Next, show your inked finger to a representative and then proceed to the polling booth.

Electronic Voting Machine
On the machine press the ballot button opposite the symbol of the candidate of your choice. You should hear a beep sound. Now your vote has been cast. Check the slip that appears in the transparent window of the VVPAT machine.

About Slip
The slip will have details related to the candidates serial number, name, and symbol of the party they belong to. This will be visible for seven seconds. Then it will be dropped in the sealed VVPAT box.

NOTA option
Voters have the option to press NOTA (None of the Above) in case they do not want to cast their vote to any candidate.

Voters List
A voter is only permitted to vote if his/her name appears on the voter list. A physical process was followed earlier, but voters can now easily log in to electoralsearch.in to check the list.

Helpline
There is also a helpline provided to find the list. The helpline is 1950 (Plus STD code). You can also SMS: SMS space to 1950 (EPIC stands for Electors Photo Identity Card also commonly known as Voter ID card).
