Five Wars

India has faced five wars since independence, emerging victorious in most conflicts.

First Indo-Pak War (1947-1948)

Lasting 441 days, India triumphed against tribal fighters and the Pakistani army in Jammu and Kashmir, inflicting heavy losses; Deaths- India: 1104, Pakistan: 3154; Injured- India: 6000, Pakistan: 14000

Sino-Indian War (1962)

India engaged China in a tough battle for 32 days, resulting in significant casualties and property loss on both sides; Deaths- India: 1383, China: 722; Injured- India: 1047, China: 1697

Second Indo-Pak War (1965)

Led by Lal Bahadur Shastri, India defeated Pakistan in a 50-day conflict, showcasing remarkable bravery and tank destruction; Deaths- India: 3000, Pakistan: 3800

Indo-Pak War (1971)

Under Indira Gandhis leadership, India achieved a decisive victory, leading to the creation of Bangladesh. The war lasted only 13 days, with 93,000 Pakistani soldiers surrendering; Deaths- India: 3843, Pakistan: 12000; Injured- India: 9000, Pakistan: 25000

Kargil War (1999)

Lasting 85 days, India faced Pakistani soldiers infiltrating as terrorists in Kargil. The Indian Army and Air Force compelled Pakistan to surrender once again, securing victory on the mountain peaks; Deaths- India: 547, Pakistan: 1200; Injured- India: 1363, Pakistan: 1000
