The Sela Tunnel is an engineering marvel. It will provide all-weather connectivity to Tawang across Sela pass on the Balipura- Chariduar-Tawang (BCT) road in Arunachal Pradesh.

Two tunnels
The Project consists of two tunnels, measuring 1,595 metre-1,003 metre in length, with 8.6 km approach and link roads.

Will reduce travelling distance
The tunnel wil cut the travelling distance by only 6-km. But it will ensure all-weather connectivity and cut travelling time by an hour.

Will enhance Indian military's capabilities
This strategic tunnel is being made by the Border Roads Construction (BRO) under Project Vartak. It will enhance Indian militarys capabilities in combating the threat of Chinas Western Theater Command opposite Indias eastern sector of Line of Actual NH13 an all-weather road to access Tawang.

The execution of this enormous project required over 90 lakh man hours, with an average of 650 workers and labourers working every day for the past five years.
