A general election is to be held in India from April 19, 2024 to June 1, 2024 to elect the 543 members of the 18th Lok Sabha.
Polling date
India is ready for the first phase of its seven-phase Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from April 19.
States to be covered
Some of the major states that are going to polls in Phase 1 include Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttarakhand among others.
Timing
The voting will commence at 8:00 AM and conclude at 5:00 PM on April 19. One hour extra is provided as the buffer period for voters who are already present in the voting line.
Key candidates
About eight Union ministers, two former chief ministers and one ex-governor are among those who are set to test their electoral fate in the first phase of elections. (BJPs Jitendra Singh, Uddham-Jammu and Kashmir), (BJPs Nitin Gadkari, Nagpur, Maharashtra), BJPs Jatin Prasada, Pilibhit, UP), (Congresss Nakul Nath, Chhindwara-Madhya Pradesh).
Constituencies
A total of 102 constituencies across 21 states and union territories (UTs) will be voting in the first phase of the 18th LS polls.
