States to be covered

    Some of the major states that are going to polls in Phase 1 include Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttarakhand among others.

Timing

    The voting will commence at 8:00 AM and conclude at 5:00 PM on April 19. One hour extra is provided as the buffer period for voters who are already present in the voting line.

Key candidates

    About eight Union ministers, two former chief ministers and one ex-governor are among those who are set to test their electoral fate in the first phase of elections. (BJPs Jitendra Singh, Uddham-Jammu and Kashmir), (BJPs Nitin Gadkari, Nagpur, Maharashtra), BJPs Jatin Prasada, Pilibhit, UP), (Congresss Nakul Nath, Chhindwara-Madhya Pradesh).
