National Irish Coffee Day

Back in 1942 on a rainy day, weary travelers at the tiny Shannon Airport in southwest Ireland made their way to a restaurant and chef Joe Sheridan. He served his visitors steaming coffee with whipped cream on top and a whisky spike to keep them toasty.

Have a heatproof glass mug, spoon, and whipped cream dispenser at hand. Although a heatproof glass mug is ideal, essentially any coffee mug will do. Now you are ready to prepare the coffee.

3. Pour in the coffee

Brew the coffee separately and pour it into the mug. Stir to dissolve the sweetener or sugar.

4. Add the whiskey

Next, pour some Irish whiskey into the coffee. Experiment with the amount to see how much is required as per your taste.

5. Top with cream

Finally, on top of the coffee, you can dollop on some whipped cream. A spoon or a whipped cream dispenser can be used for garnishing. Now you can sip away a classic cup of Irish coffee!
