    Hokaiddo Beach was declared a Japanese Geopark in 2008 and a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2010.

Where is it found?

    It is located in the west of Japan and stretches from the eastern Kyogamisaki Cape, Kyoto to the western Hakuto Kaigan Coast, Tottori.

    The area is blessed with geographical features such as ria-type coasts, sand bars, sand dunes, volcanoes, and valleys.

    This also serves as home to rare plants like Pseudolysimachion ornatum, Ciconia boyciana, and Ranunculus nipponicus.

    The area covers three cities, towns and prefectures with a population of about 400,000.
