    Many countries in the world are going through military coups and have power to the extent of them taking over government rule. Here are 8 countries where there is either a military dictatorship or a military on the verge of a takeover.

Iran

    The Iranian regime has been unable to transition from military rule to internationally accepted rules of law. Iran is on the verge of becoming a military dictatorship as its International Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has been supplanting its government.

Pakistan

    The military has been dismantling democracy in Pakistan since its independence in 1947. The recent Pakistan Army Amendment Bill 2023 gives even more power to the military as it criminalizes criticizing the armed services, grants the military full legal standing for its vast commercial empire, and permits it to carry out activities related to national development and advancement of national or strategic interests.

    Myanmar has been under military rule since 2021.
