Lok Sabha Elections 2024: 10 High-profile candidates battling from prominent seats

Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is aiming for his third term in the Varanasi constituency. This is the same seat that paved his way to the Lok Sabha after his stint as Chief Minister of Gujarat. He is facing Congress leader and INDIA bloc candidate Ajay Rai.

Rahul Gandhi

Congress Supremo Rahul Gandhi is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from two seats: Wayanad and Raebareli. He had lost his previous elections while contesting from his familys bastian seat of Amethi in 2019 and entered the Lok Sabha from Wayanad in an attempt to safeguard his partys long Bastian. He is facing BJPs Dinesh Pratap Singh and BJAs K. Surendra, as well as CPI-Ms Annie Raj in Wayanad.

Rajnath Singh

Defence minister and veteran leader from BJP, Rajnath Singh is seeking a third term from the Lucknow seat. The former Uttar Pradesh CM also served as the Home Minister in BJPs first term and Defence Minister in the second term. He is battling against SP candidate Ravidas Mehrotra and BSP candidate Sarwar Malik.

Asaduddin Owaisi

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi is on the battlefield up against BJP candidate and actor-turned-politician Madhavi Latha.

Abhishek Banerjee

TMC leader and Bengal CM Mamta Banerjees Nephew, Abhishek is all set to make further inroads in West Bengal. He is contesting from Diamond Harbour seeking a second term from the seat and is pitted against CPI(M) candidate Pratikur Rahaman and BJPs Abhijit Das.

Shashi Tharoor

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, a three-time MP from Thiruvananthapuram is facing a three-way contest against BJPs Rajeev Chandrasekhar and CPI-Ms Panniyan Ravindran. The exit polls have predicted that they are going to have a tough tussle.

Supriya Sule

Contesting the election from the Baramati constituency, Supriya is set to decide Pawar legacys fate. She is up against Ajit Pawars wife, Suneta Pawar, from the seat.

K Annamalai

BJP Tamil Nadu chief and rising face in the south, K Annamalai is aiming to make the partys strong stand in the state. The formal cop is up against DMK leader Ganapathy P Rajkumar and AIADMKs Singai Ramachandran.

Amit Shah

The Union Home Minister entered the Lok Sabha in 2019 from Gandhinagar and is wishing for his second term from the same seat. The BJP has had a good track record with veterans holding this crucial seat in past. Shah, who was BJPs President before becoming minister, is against Congress candidate Sonal Patel.

Akhilesh Yadav

Samajwadi party chief is contesting from Kannauj seat. An MLA from Karhal Assembly constituency, he is facing incumbent MP and BJP leader Subrat Pathak.
