Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, who has been remanded to judicial custody till April 15 in the excise policy case, spent a restless first night in Delhis Tihar Jail. However, AAP leaders have maintained that he will not resign. But speculations are rife that Delhis Finance Minister Atishi may hold the reins of the party in the coming days.

Early days

Atishi was born to Delhi University professors Vijay Kumar Singh and Tripta Wahi. She did her schooling at Springdale School in New Delhi.

Higher education

She studied history at St. Stephens College and pursued her Masters on a Chevening scholarship at Oxford University.

Political Career

Atishi joined the AAP at the time of its inception. She was a key member of the Manifesto Drafting Committee of the party for 2013 assembly election.

Constituency

Atishi represents the Kalkaji constituency in Delhi. She is a member of the AAPs Political Affairs Committee (PAC).

Atishi as Delhi minister

Atishi Marlena is an AAP leader and was sworn in as minister in the Arvind Kejriwal-led government on March 9, 2023, after cabinet reshuffle. She is the only woman minister in the Delhi Cabinet and holds a high number of portfolios.

Stint in Delhi govt's education department

Atishi is credited with playing an important role in the transformation of educational institutions in Delhi. She made important contributions to improving the infrastructure of Delhi government schools.
