EPF: Follow these steps to merge two Universal Account Numbers

    As per the existing rules, a salaried employees is required to have only one Universal Account Number for his Employees Provident Fund account. But, if you change your job, you will be alloted with a new UAN.

Two UANs

    It should be noted that it is against EPFO norms to have two functional Universal Account numbers at the same time. Follow these two methods how deactivating or merging two UANs.

1st step

    Employees having two UANs should report the issue at a new employer or EPFO.

2nd step

    An employee can write an email to uanepf@epfindia.gov.in mentioning their current and new UAN.

3rd Step

    EPFO will conduct the verification to resolve the issue.

4th step

    The old UAN will be deactivated and the employees current UAN will remain active.

5th step

    Now you need to submi a claim for the transer of the EPF account linked with the deactivated UAN to a new active account.

6th step

    The process for the above is a bit complex and the resolution rate is low as well. EPFO has come up with an easy process where the member can conveniently link his two UANs and transfer his EPF without much hassle.
