    Todays market saw growth for the fifth straight session as the Sensex closed at a lifetime closing high of 73,327.94, up 759.49 points, or 1.05 percent. The index rose 833.71 points, or 1.14 percent, during the day to reach an intraday record high of 73,402.16.

    Nifty reached a new closing high of 22,097.45 after zooming 202.90 points, or 0.93 percent, higher. It increased by 221 points, or 1%, during the day to hit a lifetime intra-day high of 22,115.55.

    The indices reached new record high levels thanks to a robust surge in IT shares: Infosys, TCS, Wipro, and HCL Tech. They followed better-than-expected Q3 results. Shares of the oil and gas and energy sectors contributed to the surge.
