Viral Video: A confrontation occurred between BJP leaders and policemen at Deep Tiraha in Kanpur. The incident involved Shailendra Tripathi, the Kanpur South District Vice President of the BJP, and his nephew. While driving, their car was stopped by police for a routine check. The situation quickly escalated as Tripathi became furious and verbally abused the officers.

During the check, Tripathi angrily questioned the officers' actions, accusing them of targeting his vehicle because of the BJP flag displayed on it. He shouted, "You are mentally disturbed, will you seize the vehicle and issue a challan? I am ordering 500 more vehicles. How much will you seize?" His nephew even attempted to snatch a policeman's mobile phone. The entire altercation was captured on video.

Violations by Tripathi's car

On June 24, as part of the 'Hooter and Batti' campaign, police stopped Tripathi’s car, which was equipped with a hooter and covered in black film, both of which are violations. Upon being stopped, Tripathi exited his vehicle and aggressively confronted the officers, demanding their names and threatening further action. "I am calling more vehicles now. Seize them all and issue challans," he declared.

Accusations against Police

Tripathi accused the police of acting as Samajwadi Party (SP) workers, stating, "You people are only working as SP workers. I will not go like this. I will treat these policemen and then leave." His nephew also contributed to the tension by attempting to take a policeman’s mobile phone, accusing the officer of recording the incident.

Police unable to act?

Despite the verbal assault and threats, the police were unable to take action against Tripathi or issue a challan for his vehicle. Frustrated by their inability to respond effectively due to Tripathi’s political influence, one of the officers decided to make the video of the incident public.

Viral video sparks outrage

The video, showing Tripathi's abuse and threats, quickly went viral on social media, highlighting the tension between political influence and law enforcement in Kanpur. The incident has sparked widespread criticism and calls for accountability.
