Celebrity chef Kunal Kapur received a divorce on Tuesday from his estranged wife. The Delhi High Court granted him a divorce on the grounds of mistreatment, lack of empathy and decency.The high court granted Kunal Kapurs appeal against the divorce decree he was denied by a family court, stating that it is a well-established legal stance that publicly making careless, slanderous, humiliating, and unfounded accusations against ones spouse is cruel.The court in its statement said that based on the mentioned facts of this case, “We conclude that the respondents (wifes) behavior toward the appellant (husband) has been lacking both empathy and decency.”A panel of Justices Suresh Kumar Kait and Neena Bansal Krishna declared, “When such is the nature of one spouse towards the other, it brings disgrace to the very essence of marriage and there exists no possible reason to continue such relationship.”Chef Kunal Kapoor, one of the celebrity judges on the television show “Master Chef” alleged that his wife never respects his parents and humiliates him. On the other hand, the woman refuted all the claims calling them false. She added that she was a loving spouse and communicated well. The estranged couple got married in 2008 and are parents of an 11-year-old son.According to the information, the court while announcing the judgment said that the marriage itself loses its sacredness when such disagreements manifest as disregard and contempt for one spouse.
