New Delhi: In a display of remarkable courage, a mother and her daughter thwarted a robbery attempt by two armed assailants who intruded into their residence in Hyderabad on Thursday afternoon. Their bravery has earned them recognition and praise from the local police.
Amita Mehot, 42, and her daughter found themselves face-to-face with danger when two men arrived at their doorstep around 2 pm, claiming to have a parcel for delivery. Upon the maid's opening of the door, the men, identified as Sushil and Premchand, revealed their true intentions. Sushil brandished a gun while Premchand held a knife to the maid's throat, coercing their entry into the house.
Once inside, the intruders demanded the surrender of all valuable possessions. However, they underestimated the resilience of the courageous mother-daughter duo. Reacting swiftly, they bravely resisted the assailants, with both physically engaging them and raising alarms for assistance.
Surveillance footage captured the dramatic confrontation, showing the two women bravely attempting to apprehend one of the perpetrators as they attempted to flee. While one assailant, Premchand, was successfully detained by alert neighbors, Sushil managed to flee the scene initially but was later apprehended by law enforcement authorities.

Investigations revealed that the two suspects had previously worked for the family approximately a year ago, adding a concerning dimension to the attempted robbery.
Amita Mehot promptly lodged a complaint with the authorities, leading to the registration of a case against the perpetrators. The courageous actions of the mother-daughter duo were commended and honored by Rohini Priyadarshini, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), in a ceremony attended by proud husband and father Navratan.
