In cricket, it's becoming common to see fans breaching security and invading pitches to meet their idols, especially during the Indian Premier League (IPL). The latest incident occurred during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings on March 25 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

As RCB was chasing the target of 177 runs, a fan of Virat Kohli managed to breach security and approached the cricketer on the field. The fan touched Kohli's feet before being intercepted by security personnel, who escorted him out of the stadium. However, concerns arose after a video circulated on social media, alleging that the fan was subjected to physical assault by security staff following the incident.

The video has gained attention from fans who claimed it depicted the same individual who invaded the pitch during the RCB vs Punjab Kings match.

Return of 'The King'

Despite the interruption caused by the pitch invasion, Kohli remained focused and played a stellar innings. He scored 77 runs off 49 deliveries and contributed significantly to RCB's victory, their first of the season. After Kohli's dismissal, the match became tense as RCB needed 10 runs in the final over. However, Dinesh Karthik's composed knock of 28 runs off 10 balls secured victory for RCB in a thrilling last-over finish.

Looking ahead, RCB will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) next, aiming for their second consecutive win.

Kohli's exceptional performance against Punjab Kings reignited discussions about his inclusion in India's squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Reports suggest Kohli's selection isn't guaranteed, and his IPL performance will play a crucial role in determining his inclusion.

Kohli's return to cricket followed a two-month break. He withdrew from the Test series against England due to the birth of his second child, Akaay.
