New Delhi: A tragic incident unfolded near Belauri in Bihar's Purnia district as a collision between a scout vehicle from the convoy of Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, and a civilian car resulted in the loss of life and left multiple individuals injured.
The collision, which occurred within the jurisdiction of Purnia's police station, involved a scout vehicle accompanying Tejashwi Yadav's convoy and a civilian car traveling in the opposite direction. Mohammad Halim, the driver of the escort vehicle, tragically lost his life in the collision. Furthermore, six police personnel sustained injuries in the accident.
Additionally, four civilians who were traveling in the other car also suffered injuries. All ten individuals involved in the accident were promptly rushed to JMCH (Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital) for medical treatment, with the conditions of five individuals reported as serious.
Following the incident, SP (Superintendent of Police) Upendranath Verma swiftly arrived at JMCH to oversee the treatment of the injured individuals. SP Verma provided directives to the medical staff regarding the appropriate medical care for all the victims. He confirmed that the collision occurred between the escort vehicle and the civilian car, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries, including those sustained by six police personnel.
According to reports, the accident occurred during the Jan Vishwas Yatra, a political procession led by Tejashwi Yadav. As Yadav's convoy passed through Belauri in Purnia, the scout vehicle, part of the procession, was traveling on the wrong side of the Purnia-Katihar four-lane highway. Tragically, this led to a severe collision with a red civilian car approaching from the Katihar side, resulting in a devastating accident.
Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision to ascertain the exact cause and sequence of events leading to the tragic incident.
