In a shocking turn of events, a 4-year-old girl fell victim to a heinous crime in Delhi's Pandav Nagar area, where she was allegedly raped by a 34-year-old man. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, prompting hundreds of residents to gather outside the accused's residence in a display of anger and demand for justice. The protest quickly turned violent as the enraged crowd resorted to vandalizing cars and public property in the vicinity.

Protests erupt outside accused’s home

Videos shared by news agency ANI captured the tense atmosphere as locals gathered in the market area, demanding strict action against the accused. Law enforcement authorities were deployed to the scene to manage the escalating situation and disperse the agitated crowd.

Addressing the gathered crowd, Additional CP Sagar Singh Kalsi of Delhi Eastern Range provided reassurance of the authorities' commitment to ensuring justice for the victim. He clarified that despite rumors circulating regarding a perceived lack of action, law enforcement had taken immediate steps to address the situation and apprehend the suspect.

"The situation in Mandawali Police Station area is now peaceful," stated Kalsi, emphasizing the paramount importance of maintaining calm and facilitating due process in such distressing circumstances.

According to reports from Mandawali Police Station, a complaint was filed on Saturday, alleging the rape of the young girl at the location where she attended tuition classes. Following the complaint, the 34-year-old accused 'Appu' was arrested, and a case was registered in connection with the crime.

While the incident has undoubtedly rattled the community, police are trying to uphold the rule of law and ensure the safety and well-being of all residents of the area. 

Atishi demands strict action against accused

Meanwhile, Atishi, the Minister of Education in Delhi, has called for action to be taken against the accused of the minor's rape.

The police have registered a case under the appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and an investigation is currently in progress.
