New Delhi: Shubham Mishra, the son of Umashankar Mishra, accidentally swallowed the coin a few days prior. Despite showing no symptoms, an X-ray revealed the presence of the ₹5 coin in his stomach. Immediately taken to Moolchand Hospital, Dr. Rishi Raman and his team swiftly administered anesthesia and performed the Roth net procedure to retrieve the coin, preventing any further complications.

Coin stuck in ulcer

Following the successful procedure, the hospital noted the presence of a serpiginous slough-covered ulcer at the site where the coin had been lodged. Praising Dr. Rishi Raman's expertise, Moolchand Healthcare shared a video showcasing the medical intervention, highlighting the exceptional gastro expertise at the hospital.

Anxious moments for boy's father

Expressing his gratitude, Umashankar Mishra recounted the anxious moments leading up to the procedure. He lauded Dr. Rishi Raman's swift action, emphasizing that within 15 minutes, the coin was safely removed from his son's throat, relieving the family of immense stress.

Similar cases that happened earlier

This incident follows a similar case in February, where doctors at Delhi's Sir Ganga Ram Hospital performed surgery on a patient who had ingested 39 coins and 37 magnets due to a psychiatric illness. Suffering from the misconception that zinc aids in body-building, the patient's condition came to light when he was rushed to the emergency ward with severe symptoms of vomiting and abdominal pain.

The successful removal of the coin at Moolchand Hospital underscores the critical role of timely medical intervention. Dr. Rishi Raman's expertise and the hospital's dedication to providing exceptional care are commendable, emphasizing the importance of prompt medical attention in emergency situations.
