Elon Musk, owner of the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), has sparked speculation about a possible new feature related to video streaming. He has already made several changes in the microblogging platform after assuming office. He is constantly making changes in the platform to enhance the user experience.

Musk recently shared a video on his X account showcasing him playing a SpaceX launch video on his living room TV. Notably, the caption of the video mentioned "And you can also use AirPlay," a technology that enables wireless streaming from Apple devices.

This has led some to believe that X might be developing a feature allowing users to directly stream content from the platform to their televisions. Only Apple device users have the facility to stream the videos through wifi.

Focus on long-form content

This potential development aligns with X's recent focus on longer video content. Reports suggest the platform is actively exploring this avenue and might even be considering a dedicated app for smart TVs.

While initial compatibility might be limited to devices running Fire OS (Amazon) and Tizen OS (Samsung), the platform reportedly aims to expand to other popular operating systems like Google TV and Apple TV in the future.

Beyond traditional media

While the video and caption hint at a potential new streaming feature, it's crucial to note that X has not officially confirmed such an initiative.  However, this development suggests the platform might be exploring ways to expand its offerings beyond traditional social media functionalities and potentially enter the competitive video streaming market.
