Praniti Shinde, an incumbent MLA and the daughter of former Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, is contesting for the Solapur Lok Sabha constituency. Her opponent in this electoral race is Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ram Satpute, who currently represents Malshiras in Solapur district, part of the adjacent Madha Lok Sabha constituency.
Addressing recent developments, Shinde disclosed BJP’s attempts to lure her away from the Congress. However, she reaffirmed her steadfast loyalty to the Congress, emphasizing her commitment to the party’s values and principles.
In contrast, her father faced consecutive defeats in the constituency, first in 2014 against BJP’s Sharad Bansode and then in 2019 against BJP candidate Siddeshwar Shivacharya.
The video emerges amidst the initiation of the first phase of voting for the 18th Lok Sabha elections across 21 states and Union territories. With a 40 per cent turnout recorded by 1 pm, over 16.63 crore voters are expected to participate across nearly 2 lakh polling stations. Notable candidates, including Union ministers and key political figures, are contesting these elections.
The electoral battle, spanning seven phases until June 1, features the BJP-led NDA seeking a decisive mandate and the opposition INDIA bloc aiming for resurgence. Results are anticipated on June 4, heralding significant implications for the country’s political landscape.
