In the Banda area of Shahjahanpur, heavy rainfall has led to severe mud and waterlogging, rendering the access road to Udra village almost impassable. This unpaved, approximately four-kilometer stretch connecting Udra Tikri to Mohanpur village becomes especially treacherous during the monsoon season, with large pools of water accumulating in many places.

Villagers somehow manage to navigate this muddy path, but it poses significant challenges, especially for school-going children and during medical emergencies. The difficulties were highlighted on Thursday when Jitendra Singh faced a dire situation. His wife, Ravita Devi, went into labor, and he called for an ambulance. However, the ambulance driver had to stop at a distance due to the impassable road conditions filled with deep potholes and mud.

Desperate Measures

Jitendra, with the help of his family, was forced to carry his wife on a cot to reach the waiting ambulance. This was the only way to get the pregnant woman to the hospital in time. A video of this incident, made by villagers, was posted on social media and quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention to the dire state of the village’s infrastructure.

Calls for Action

The villagers have repeatedly requested local representatives to address the road issue. However, despite numerous appeals, no action has been taken to construct a proper road. The onset of the rainy season only exacerbates the situation, making an already difficult commute even more hazardous.

One villager remarked, "We have been asking for a proper road for years, but our pleas have fallen on deaf ears. The recent incident highlights the urgent need for infrastructure development in our village."

The viral video has brought attention to the struggles faced by the residents of Udra village, emphasizing the need for immediate intervention to improve road conditions and ensure safe access, especially during emergencies.
