Uttar Pradesh: A devastating fire in Nawada Bilsandi village in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly district claimed the lives of four innocent children on Thursday afternoon. The tragedy occurred as the children, playing on the rooftop of their house, were suddenly engulfed by flames that erupted in a pile of stored straw.
According to reports, the fire broke out around midday, quickly consuming the straw and trapping the children. Despite efforts by family members and neighbors to extinguish the flames, the children sustained severe burns. Three of them, Priyanshi (5), Manvi (3), and Naina (5), succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The fourth child, Neetu (6), was critically injured and died while being rushed to the hospital.
District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police Ghule Sushil Chandrabhan, and other senior officials rushed to the site. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences to the bereaved families.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. While the initial reports suggest the straw on the rooftop was ignited. Further details are awaited. The heartbreaking incident is a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety precautions, particularly in rural areas where traditional storage methods like straw piles are common.
