In a remarkable turn of events at a mass marriage event in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, Khushi, a resident of Bamaur, found herself exchanging vows not with her intended groom but with her brother-in-law. The incident, which unfolded during the Chief Minister's mass marriage conference, left attendees bewildered and surprised.
The marriage ceremony, which witnessed the union of 132 couples, proceeded as planned until a particular couple caught the attention of onlookers. Upon further inquiry, it was revealed that the groom, registered as Brijbhan from Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, failed to appear. Khushi's brother-in-law, Dinesh, stepped in to fulfill the role of the groom, leading to an unexpected twist in the proceedings.
With the absence of the designated groom, Khushi's brother-in-law took on the responsibility and performed the marriage rituals alongside her. Despite the unconventional circumstances, the ceremony continued, with Khushi and Dinesh completing the customary seven rounds, symbolizing their union.
Khushi, now unexpectedly wedded to her brother-in-law, attributed the unusual situation to inclement weather, which prevented the arrival of the original groom. She expressed her sentiments, stating, "The person I was supposed to marry has not come due to rain, and I have performed the wedding rituals with my brother-in-law."
Attendees speculated about the motives behind the substitution, suggesting possible ulterior motives or incentives associated with participation in the mass marriage scheme. However, District Social Welfare Officer Lalita Yadav emphasized the need for further investigation, asserting that such occurrences require scrutiny and clarification.
The mass marriage event, organized at the Government Polytechnic Ground in Jhansi, aimed to solemnize marriages for numerous couples hailing from various districts. Despite the hiccup in Khushi's wedding, the ceremony proceeded smoothly for the remaining couples, adhering to customary practices and traditions.
