Fatal friendship: In a shocking incident in Rourkela, Odisha, a 42-year-old man, identified as Nihar Ranjan Acharya, met a tragic end after allegedly spreading false news of his own demise. The grim turn of events unfolded on Friday night when Acharya's friend, Keval, aged 44, confronted him regarding the rumour. The confrontation escalated into a violent altercation, resulting in Keval fatally stabbing Acharya.

Victim's Identity and Occupation

Nihar Ranjan Acharya, a well-known figure in the community, was not only a respected land broker but also engaged in trading old vehicles. His untimely demise has sent shockwaves through the local populace, prompting an outcry against the senseless act of violence.

Immediate Medical Attention

According to a report by The Times Of India, following the altercation, locals rushed Acharya to the nearby Ispat General Hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life. However, despite the efforts of medical professionals, Acharya succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a grieving family and a community in mourning.

Detainment of Suspects

In the wake of the tragedy, law enforcement swiftly took action, detaining Keval, the perpetrator of the fatal stabbing. Additionally, another individual, Ashok Srivastav, aged 41, was also apprehended on charges of instigating Keval to commit the heinous crime. The authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Postmortem and Handover

Following the completion of necessary procedures, including a postmortem examination, Nihar Ranjan Acharya's body was handed over to his bereaved family. Rabindra Sahu, in-charge of the Jhirpani police station, confirmed the details surrounding the tragic incident, underscoring the need for swift and decisive action to prevent such senseless acts of violence in the future.
