In an unexpected turn of events, a case in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, has left officials in a dilemma as three women have come forward claiming to be the widow of the same man, each seeking a compassionate appointment in his place. This unprecedented situation has baffled authorities, who are now investigating to determine the rightful claimant.
The controversy centers around Santosh Kumar, a fourth-grade employee in the irrigation department at Matatila block in Jhansi district, who passed away from cancer. In the aftermath of his death, three women have independently approached the department, each asserting that she is Kumar’s wife and seeking a job on compassionate grounds. The conflicting claims have created a complex problem for the irrigation department officials who must decide which claimant is genuine.
The first claimant, Kranti Vashankar from Talbehat, presented her documents shortly after Kumar’s death, asserting herself as his widow. A few days later, another woman named Sunita also approached the department with similar claims and supporting documents, further complicating the situation. While the officials were still grappling with these two claims, a third woman, Rajo from Talbehat, emerged, making the same assertion and demanding the job.
The emergence of three claimants has perplexed the officials, prompting them to initiate a thorough investigation. “We are carefully examining all the documents and claims presented by the three women,” an official from the irrigation department stated. The investigation aims to uncover the truth behind these claims and determine the legitimate widow of Santosh Kumar.
The case has garnered significant attention, highlighting the need for a careful and fair investigation. Officials have emphasized that a final decision will only be made once all facts are verified and the true claimant is identified. Until then, the question of who will receive the compassionate appointment remains unresolved.
