In Udaipur, Rajasthan, a different kind of farewell made headlines when a four-legged officer named Mary, a dog sniper with the Crime Investigation Department (CID), was transferred to a new city with a ceremony that tugged at everyone's heartstrings. The ceremony with garlands and emotional goodbyes, went viral on social media.
After eight years of dedicated service, Mary, a renowned explosives expert, was transferred to the Bharatpur division. She will be accompanied by her new adventure handler, Rahul Singh. The transfer came amid a series of transfers in the police department, which affected over 550 personnel in the last four days.
Mary played a crucial role in numerous operations, including high-profile visits by dignitaries like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the President. Her colleagues showered her with respect and affection, considering her an integral part of the force.
Handler Muhammad Bilal, who worked with Mary for over six years, shared a touching anecdote about her unique communication style. "After completing her duty," he recalled, "Mary would signal her hunger by sniffing and wagging her tail."
Numerous police personnel gathered to bid her adieu in farewell as their eyes filled with tears and appreciation. Photos and videos of the emotional event quickly spread online across different social media platforms.
