New Delhi: A school teacher in Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh, became the victim of a shocking fraud involving promises of multiplying money through tantra-mantra. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of falling prey to such schemes.
The incident occurred in Bardhodhi village, where teacher Jagsay Rajwade was lured by a gang promising to turn his Rs 1 lakh into a staggering Rs 1 crore using tantric rituals. Blinded by the prospect of easy wealth, Rajwade invited the fraudsters into his home.
The cunning gang arrived at Rajwade's residence and began a staged puja ceremony. Little did Rajwade know, the "rituals" were a ploy. The accused tricked him into consuming intoxicants, rendering him unconscious. They then stole a sum of Rs 8.5 lakh from his house, leaving behind a stash of fake currency notes.
The story doesn't end there. The stolen money included not only Rajwade's savings but also funds entrusted to him by eight acquaintances. This unfortunate turn of events highlights the potential domino effect of such scams.
Fortunately, the police were able to apprehend the perpetrators. Through CCTV footage and diligent investigation, they were able to identify and arrest four members of the gang operating from Raipur and Raigarh. The authorities recovered a significant amount of evidence, including fake currency, imitation gold biscuits, and puja materials.
The investigation revealed the gang's modus operandi. They would exploit the victim's greed by promising wealth multiplication through tantra-mantra. During a staged puja, they would switch real currency with cleverly crafted fakes, ultimately rendering the victim unconscious and stealing their valuables.
