Surat police interrogated Indian Premier League (IPL) cricketer Abhishek Singh for nearly four hours on Tuesday in connection with the suspected suicide of model Tanya Singh. Model Tanya found dead at her apartmentOn February 19, 28 year old model Tanya was found dead at her apartment. Her body was found hanging in ceiling. But, Police did not find any suicide note from the spot. However, Police got the clue about Abhishek when models phone was checked. They found call records and chats between model Tanya Singh and Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma. From there, it was revealed that she was earlier in a relationship with cricketer Abhishek Sharma.Abhishek questioned for nearly four hoursOn the basis of evidence including call records, Abhishek Sharma was called for questioning. The police interrogated him for four to five hours and told him to come to the police station whenever needed. Police said, we have enough evidence that Abhishek Sharma had a relationship with Tanya Singh. During interrogation, police asked Abhishek Sharma about his first meeting with Tanya and about last meeting. Abhishek Sharmas statement has been taken on the basis of CDR and IPDR. Till now, the police have also interrogated around 30 people, and will interrogate 10 more people in this matter.No response from Indian cricketerPreliminary investigation had earlier revealed that the model had sent a message to Abhishek Sharma on WhatsApp chat, but Abhishek did not respond to it. About Abhishek SharmaAbhishek Sharma, originally from Punjab, is a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team of IPL. He played 14 matches in IPL 2022 and 11 matches in IPL 2023. Hyderabad had included Abhishek Sharma in their team by bidding Rs 6.50 crore. He opened in the current season of Ranji Trophy and then showed good hands in bowling also. He scored 426 runs in IPL 2022. However, in IPL 2023, he could score only 226 runs in 11 matches and took only 2 wickets.Apart from Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy, Abhishek has played for Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL.
