Swiggy marked the special bond between pets and their owners by making a significant change to its existing policy. The company introduced a 'Paw-ternity' policy, expanding its support beyond traditional parenthood to include pet parents as well. This move aims to assist employees in taking care of their pets and supporting adoption initiatives.

Girish Menon, the Chief Human Resource Officer at Swiggy, unveiled this new policy in a press release. He emphasized that the 'Paw-ternity' policy is designed to offer comprehensive support to employees who have pets, acknowledging their crucial role in nurturing their beloved companions.

Swiggy's press release highlighted the evolution of their parental policies, which initially focused on gender-neutral parental leaves and other forms of support. Now, with the introduction of the 'Paw-ternity' policy, full-time employees can benefit from additional perks related to pet ownership.

Under this policy, employees receive an extra paid day off when they acquire or adopt a new pet. They also have the option to work from home for a few days to ensure a smooth transition for their new family member. Moreover, employees can use their casual or sick leave without hesitation to attend to their pets' needs. In case of the loss of a pet, employees can request bereavement leave to cope with their emotional loss.

Swiggy expressed its commitment to recognizing the essential role pets play in employees' lives and assured dedicated support through their pet care policy.
