In a disturbing incident that has stunned the UK, a 28-year-old man confessed to murdering his wife, dismembering her body into more than 200 pieces, and discarding them in a river with the help of a friend.

Nicholas Metson, 28, finally admitted to killing his wife, Holly Bramley, 26, in March, after initially denying the accusations and even joking with police officers about her possible whereabouts.

How did it happen?

The gruesome act took place in the couple's home, where Metson stabbed his wife multiple times in their bedroom before dismembering her body in the bathroom. He then packaged the body parts in plastic bags and stored them in the kitchen's cold storage area for nearly a week before seeking assistance to dispose of them.

Friend helps to dismantle body parts

About a week later, Metson paid a friend £50 to help him get rid of the body parts. The friend later sent a text message saying, "Just got £50 for disposing of a body," revealing the chilling extent of the crime.

The dismembered body parts were discovered in plastic bags floating in the Witham River by a passerby. Divers recovered a total of 224 body parts, but some remain missing. The dismemberment was so severe that determining the cause of death proved impossible.

Brutal nature of Nicholas Metson

According to Bramley's mother, her daughter endured an abusive marriage, during which Metson isolated her from her family. They were on the brink of separating when Metson murdered her.

Bramley had previously sought police assistance after Metson killed her pet hamsters by grinding them in a food blender and microwave oven. He also killed her new puppy.

How did police discover the heinous murder?

The horrific crime came to light when Lincolnshire Police conducted a welfare check on Bramley after receiving distress reports. They found blood-soaked sheets, dark stains, and a strong smell of ammonia and bleach in the house.

Metson, who is awaiting sentencing, has not provided a motive for the murder. His lawyer cited his autism spectrum disorder diagnosis as a contributing factor.
