It seems that online orders are turning out to be a nightmare for some this summer. After a human-like finger in an ice cream cone pesticide in an ice cream tub and a snake in a courier, a woman has found a dead rat in Hershey’s syrup. The shocking incident came to light just a couple of days after a woman found a centipede in the ice cream tub that she ordered online.

The recent incident has been shared by a woman named Prami Sridhar on her Instagram handle who said that she had found a dead rat in the bottle of Hershey’s Syrup that she ordered from Zepto.

In her long Instagram post, she mentioned that she ordered the chocolate syrup from Zepto and has been using the bottle for quite some time. But every time she used the same they caught a small hair, then decided to open the intact bottle. After opening the bottle, she transferred the same into a disposable glass under running water.

She also mentioned that three members consumed the contaminated syrup and were hospitalized. She further claimed that she tried registering a complaint but did not response. She has also asked the department concerned to take prompt action in the case.

Hershey’s response

In response to the issue, Hershey’s India apologized for the same and asked for the woman to share the UPC and manufacturing code from the bottle to consumercare@hersheys.com with the reference number 11082163 so the company could assist her.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time that something like this has come to light. Before this, two incidents were shared by the residents where they got contaminated ice cream, which they ordered online.

In response to the incidents, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) taking swift action has suspended the license of the manufacturing units responsible for the ice cream.
