Shark Tank India 3: Founder Karthik Manikonda of 'The Mind and Company', which is a business making efforts to work towards mental health awareness recently went to Shark Tank 3 to pitch his business. However, he was not able to present in front of the Sharks as he did not meet the language requirements. The audience being predominantly Hindi speakers required the show makers to resort to recording the show in Hindi.
Karthik Manikonda being a native of Chennai, is an English and Tamil speaker. He planned on presenting the pitch in English on the show. Going by the set rules, he was not allowed to proceed.
One solution would be for Shark Tank to hire translators who can provide translations when required. Karthik Manikonda, myself suggested that AI should be implemented to make real-time translation possible.
Pitchers can perhaps bring their own translator to the show, after seeking permission from Shark Tank organizers. This way they are not relying on the show to officially make changes in their requirements, which may take time. Also, bringing their own translator will help them ensure that their ideas are being translated exactly how they wish them to be shared.
Since 'The Mind and Company' was not able to be seen on the Shark Tank 3, we would like to shed some light on the company. The business offers therapy sessions both online and offline. They provide articles and talks via their Instagram account on particular mental health-related issues.
Their in-person therapy sessions enable people to ask questions and share their thoughts in an interactive setting. Also, they get the opportunity to meet other people who may be facing similar situations as them.
