Viral News: A Bengaluru man's culinary adventure took him on an "Idli hopping" journey, where he documented his experience of tasting this beloved South Indian dish at various eateries across the city. His video revealed a stark contrast in pricing, showcasing how the cost of Idli varied dramatically—from a mere Rs. 5 at a roadside stall to an extravagant Rs. 5,000 at a luxury hotel.

The Quest for Idli: A Foodie's Journey

Cassy Pereira, the foodie behind the camera, embarked on this unique quest to explore the different price points of Idlis in Bengaluru. Starting at a humble roadside stall, Cassy was delighted to find the price of a single Idli was just Rs. 5. Served with two types of chutneys, he rated this simple yet delicious dish an impressive 9.7 out of 10.

From Affordable to Extravagant

Next, Cassy visited "The Rameshwaram Cafe," a well-known food outlet in Bengaluru, where he paid Rs. 50 for a plate that included two Idlis, chutneys, and Sambar. However, the real surprise came when he ventured into high-end restaurants. His video captured him trying Idlis priced at Rs. 500 and even Rs. 5,000 at a prestigious hotel. At the Taj Hotels, dressed in a blue suit, Cassy enjoyed a meal that garnered a rating of only 4.2 despite its hefty price tag.

The pinnacle of his journey was at an undisclosed restaurant where he was served Idlis adorned with 23-carat edible gold for an astonishing Rs. 5,000. While he praised the restaurant's lavish ambiance, he found the dish itself lacking.

Public Reaction

The video sparked significant reactions from netizens who were astonished by the exorbitant prices for what is traditionally considered an affordable meal. Many expressed their disbelief on social media, with comments like "Selling Idli for 5000rs is an absolute crime even if it's a seven-star hotel" and "Taste of idli is inversely proportional to the cost."In summary, Cassy Pereira's Idli hopping adventure not only highlighted the diverse culinary landscape of Bengaluru but also ignited discussions about food pricing and value perception among diners.
