A recent incident at a Bank of India branch in Nagpur resulted in a man being denied access for wearing shorts, which sparked a conversation on social media about discrimination and clothing rules. The man is seen fighting with a security guard in the video, ostensibly to highlight how the guard would not let him in because of his attire.

Here's what happened!

When the man from Nagpur attempted to visit the bank to do some money transactions, something happened. When he tried to enter the bank, security personnel stopped him and reminded him that the dress code for the establishment requires that guests wear full-length pants.

The individual showed disbelief and anger, stating he was unaware of the regulation, having never seen such limitations at other locations.
In the video, a client is seen fighting with a security guard stationed at the bank's gate after the latter accuses the former of being refused entry to the bank due to the latter's choice to wear shorts rather than pants. The man can be heard asking if customers entering banks have to follow a dress code, but the guard does not answer.

The guard and his dilemma!

The guard in the video does not explicitly respond to the man who asks why bank customers must wear a certain outfit. The video has raised more general issues about how to find a balance in public spaces between professionalism and individual freedom, even if the bank has upheld its decorum-maintaining policy. As soon as the video went viral, social media users expressed their fury at what they perceived to be dress-based discrimination. In response to the video, many people said on social media that these "rules" were unjust and discriminatory, while others asserted that there was no formal dress code for patrons.
