Social media users responded to the cleaning drive video that the Northern Railway Lucknow Division posted in a variety of ways. Some criticized the travelers, while others praised the Indian Railways for acting quickly.

Penalize travelers as well. "Nice job, gentlemen," another person commented. However, this needs to be a continuous effort. There should be constant, organic cleaning. A user commented, that people are drying clothes on railings and are spitting pan gutkha. The user was urged to put a penalty on those travellers too. Meanwhile, another user wrote that another user also appreciated the efforts, while mentioning that this should not be a one-time thing. The cleanliness should be natural and perpetual.
