John Cena, the legendary wrestler-turned-actor and all-around star, pulled out a hilarious act of humor at the 96th Academy Awards by wearing nothing at all! After a funny cameo as Merman Ken, John Cena made an even funnier appearance as an Oscar presenter, emphasizing the value of costumes in movies by choosing not to wear any on stage while giving away the Best Costume Design prize. Jimmy Kimmel, the host of the Oscars, appeared in a supporting role in the comedy, which went viral right away.

This is how it transpired!

Jimmy Kimmel started things off by making reference to the 1974 Oscar streaker who interrupted presenter David Niven by storming onto the stage. John Cena emerged from the wings a moment later, saying he had considered reproducing the incident. Jimmy Kimmel complained, "You are the worst," and then gave the unfortunate John the winner's name envelope to use.

Using the envelope as best he could, John Cena tiptoed out of the wings and over to the presenter's microphone as the audience erupted into laughter inside the Dolby Theatre, home of the Oscars. Having dispensed with the need for the envelope, John Cena could finally open it and announce the winner. He presented the Best Costume Design Award for Poor Things to Holly Waddington.

Naked truth?

John Cena left the stage after rocking the house, but did the actor-wrestler continue to work without a shirt on? As these behind-the-scenes photos from the Oscar ceremony make clear, he was, in fact, donning a modesty pouch—the kind that is worn during intimate scene filming. But John Cena has all the swagger and hilarious timing of his own.

Blinging the 96th Academy Awards all the way!

This video footage shows that, with the lights down, it took more hands than just Jimmy Kimmel's to get John Cena into the gold toga. Returning to Oppenheimer, Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. took home the top two prizes of the evening for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, respectively. Christopher Nolan won Best Director and Best Picture for the movie as well. For Poor Things, Emma Stone won Best Actress. For The Holdovers, Da'Vine Joy Randolph won the Best Supporting Actress award.
