Another shocking episode of not allowing a person in the Namma Metro from Bengaluru has surfaced on social media. According to the social media post, a man was allegedly stopped by the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) officials from boarding the Metro train as his shirt was unbuttoned.

The user on X handle mentioned that the BMRCL staff at the Doddakallasandra Metro Station had asked the man to button up and stitch his shirt and come to the Metro station with clean clothes, otherwise, he would not be allowed to enter the Metro station.
Soon after, one of the co-passengers intervened recorded the incident and shared it on social media. “When did Namma metro become like this!!?” the X user posted on April 7.

BMRCL's response to the incident

Responding to the incident, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has denied allegations that the man was denied boarding the train because of his unbuttoned shirt. According to the sources, he was stopped as the staff felt that he was intoxicated. However, later, he was allowed to board the train. BMRCL also stated that the metro does not discriminate against passengers based on their socioeconomic status or appearance.

Another such incident was reported in February, when the officials stopped a farmer because according to them, he was not clean enough to board the train. The post also led to a backlash against BMRCL.
