As the sun is not showing any mercy even when we are nearing July, extreme heat is claiming more lives day by day. Five people in Delhi and 10 people in Noida lost their lives due to heatstroke. According to the doctors in Lok Nayak Hospital, Delhi, most of the people whose lives were claimed by the heatwave were daily wage laborers or rickshaw pullers above the age of 60.

The death toll is rising

One death has been reported by Lok Nayak Hospital and Safdurjung Hospital, respectively. Around 36 people have been admitted to Lok Nayak Hospital in the past 24 hours. The people who have succumbed to the heatwaves in the former hospital were mostly daily wage laborers over the age of 60.

Who is suffering the most?

A mechanic who lost his life recently reported a body temperature of 106 degrees Celsius. He was brought to the Lok Nayak hospital and died a day later. A 70-year-old man from Bihar who had missed his train and was roaming around the station also reportedly died due to a heatstroke. Most commonly, people suffering from heatstroke also suffer from abnormally high body temperatures.

Around seven people were admitted to LNJP Hospital yesterday with symptoms of a high fever touching 106 to 107 degrees. Out of them, five have been kept on ventilators, and three of these patients are over 65 years of age.

Visible symptoms of a heatwave in patients

Most of the patients brought to the hospital are suffering from electrolyte deficiency, heat stroke, a fever of over 105 degrees, and extreme dehydration. Day by day, cases of heatstroke are increasing in the private hospitals and dispensaries in the Delhi NCR region.

According to sources, the number of people suffering from the heatwave has increased more than twice from the previous month, and most of those affected by the wrath of nature were rickshaw pullers or daily wage laborers. The NCR region can expect some relief soon due to the western disturbances.
