Mumbai police arrest husband in Malvani for wife's suspected murder over affair

On Saturday, a tragic incident unfolded as a 40-year-old man, identified as Shravan Rawat, was arrested for the alleged murder of his wife over suspected infidelity. Rawat, a vegetable seller hailing from Malvani, found himself at the center of a grim scenario that ended in a loss of life.

The police investigation revealed a tumultuous relationship between Rawat and his wife, Swapna. She often assisted him in his work, but their union was marred by frequent disputes, primarily stemming from Rawat's suspicions of her engaging in an extramarital affair. The culmination of these tensions occurred on Saturday noon, when a verbal altercation turned violent.

In a fit of fury, Rawat physically attacked Swapna, using his hands and legs in the assault. The altercation escalated to such an extent that Swapna lost consciousness, tragically succumbing to her injuries and passing away. The distressing turn of events led to Rawat's immediate arrest.

Authorities have initiated legal proceedings against Rawat under Indian Penal Code Section 302, which pertains to murder. He is scheduled to appear in court today, May 5, for further judicial processes. Concurrently, the deceased's body has been sent for postmortem examination.
