MS Dhoni, a man who's adored by bllions for his work, who recently got praised in a video of Gautam Gambhir declaring that Dhoni would continue to be the most successful Indian cricket team skipper, went viral recently. The former celebrity has good reason to say as much. No other skipper has led the team to the top spot in the Test rankings and won the Champions Trophy, T20 World Cup, and ODI World Cup. Because of MS Dhoni's magnetic presence on the field, the Indian cricket team became an unstoppable force starting in 2007.

Even though MS Dhoni received numerous awards, one memorable moment from the great man's career occurred during the 2011 ODI World Cup final at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium when he struck Sri Lanka's Nuwan Kulasekara for a six to win the championship match for India. At 91, he continued to be unbeaten as India won their second-ever ODI World Cup. India last won the ODI World Cup during that time.  Wankhede Stadium is once again home to MS Dhoni. This time, in an IPL 2024 encounter, he will be for the Chennai Super Kings against the Mumbai Indians. MS Dhoni saw the 2011 World Cup trophy in person on Saturday before the game, and the photo has since gone viral.

CSK and the legacy

Just before the competition, Dhoni announced his resignation as captain of CSK, and Ruturaj Gaikwad took over. This marked the beginning of the IPL 2024 season. Although Ravindra Jadeja had previously attempted and failed to unseat Dhoni as the captain of CSK in 2022, the backing of the supporters and team management made it abundantly evident that Gaikwad was the team's future captain, and the whole 'Yellow Army' was behind him this time.  Still going strong, though, was the discussion about Dhoni's potential impact on the field.

Regarded as one of the game's greatest strategists, Dhoni has demonstrated in the past that his skill alone can turn any match around. The talks consequently continued unabated, to the point that several experts openly questioned how much Gaikwad would be able to govern the squad.
