Responding to the man’s distress calls, the villagers arrived armed with sticks. Initially shocked by the sight, they quickly ran to protect the man. They struck the python repeatedly with sticks, but the snake held on tightly. It was only after sustained efforts from all sides that the python finally loosened its grip, allowing the man to escape.
The man recounted his harrowing experience, explaining how the python had wrapped around his legs and neck, creating a deadly noose. A video of the dramatic rescue has since gone viral, capturing the villagers' brave efforts and the man's relief as he was freed.
The incident was reported to the forest department. DFO Rishi Mishra clarified that under Section 11 (2) of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972, no criminal charges would be filed against the villagers. This section states that if a wild animal is killed in self-defense or to save a human life, no legal action is taken. Following the incident, the python was cremated according to regulations.
