It is thought that a billionaire who disappeared in 2018 while on vacation in Switzerland is still alive and resides in Russia with his mistress. In April 2018, while hiking in the Alps, Karl-Erivan Haub, then 58 years old, vanished from sight, according to Metro News. The millionaire German-American was last spotted by himself ascending a ski lift. He never went back to his lodging. Five helicopters conducted a large search for the wealthy Haub for more than six days, but the effort was in vain. In 2021, a German court ruled him to be legally deceased. Haub departed from Tengelmann Group, his company, his wife, and their two kids.
According to a thorough inquiry, the mysterious billionaire has now been located in Moscow, where he is reportedly living with his younger mistress, according to German station RTL. According to RTL, 64-year-old Karl-Erivan Haub resides in Russia with Veronika Ermilova.
It appears that in the three days preceding Ermilova's abduction, Haub made thirteen calls to him. The length of the calls—one going on for more than an hour—has fueled rumors that the millionaire staged his disappearance.
The Cologne state prosecutor's office has also launched an investigation into claims that Christian, Haub's brother, falsified information in an affidavit, claiming he was unaware of his brother's location.Following the disappearance of his brother, Christian assumed leadership of the Tengelmann Group. It seems that he hired a security firm to look into "rumors" that Haub is still alive.
According to sources close to the investigation, the billionaire had been involved in a clandestine affair with his mistress for several years.
