In an effort to instill punctuality and enhance productivity at Evor Beauty in Mumbai, Kaushal Shah, the company's founder, introduced a stringent policy mandating employees to be present in the office by 9:30 am. A fine of ₹200 was levied on latecomers as part of this initiative. However, this seemingly straightforward policy took an unexpected turn when Shah himself found accumulating fines totaling ₹1,000 for tardiness.

Taking to social media platform X, Shah shared his amusing experience, shedding light on the challenges faced in upholding punctuality even at the upper echelons of a company. His post quickly gained traction, sparking discussions about the efficacy of such policies and the broader implications they entail.

In his X post, Shah humorously remarked, "Last week, in a bid to ramp up productivity, I implemented a strict rule requiring everyone to be in the office by 9:30 am (previously, we would trickle in around 10-11), and in case of tardiness, a ₹200 penalty would be imposed. Here I am, paying it for the fifth time."

The viral post prompted a lively debate on social media platforms, with users expressing diverse perspectives on the merits and drawbacks of Shah's policy. Responding to some misconceptions in the comments, Shah clarified, "It appears there's been a misunderstanding regarding my tweet. I shared it to underscore a fundamental principle for founders and leaders: lead by example. If you set a rule for your team, you must adhere to it first. Regarding concerns about paying the fine to my own UPI wallet, rest assured, I've set up a separate UPI Lite account dedicated to team funds. The fines collected are exclusively allocated for team activities and perks, like team dinners and events. I value the feedback and trust this clarifies my intent."
