A college student recently experienced a shocking twist of fate when he came face-to-face with a woman he had previously insulted on LinkedIn during a crucial job interview. The woman, who he had labeled as a "diversity hire," ended up being the interviewer for the position he was applying for, leading to an unforgettable lesson in humility.

The story was shared on social media by Pranav Mehta, an ex-Microsoft employee and former IITian. Mehta recounted how one of his female friends, employed at a startup, was approached by the student on LinkedIn seeking a referral for a software development engineer (SDE-1) role.

“One of my female friends working at a startup got a LinkedIn message a few weeks ago from a college student asking for a referral for an SDE-1 opening,” Mehta wrote on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

His friend found the student’s resume lacking and advised him to make improvements before applying. Rather than accepting the constructive feedback, the student responded by attacking her, calling her a "diversity hire" and accusing her of being unqualified to offer advice.

Despite the rude encounter, the student eventually secured a referral through another source and landed an interview at the same company. To his dismay, the interviewer turned out to be the very woman he had insulted online.

"Karma bites you back in ways you can't even fathom," Mehta noted. "Though she didn’t let the previous incident influence her decision on his candidacy, the guy was scared as hell."

The story has since gone viral, amassing over 63.3k views, with many curious to know the outcome of the interview. Did the student’s past behavior impact his chances? The internet is still waiting for answers, but one thing is clear—this incident serves as a powerful reminder that the way you treat people can come back to haunt you.
