A viral video of a young couple riding a two-wheeler in a reckless fashion on the roads of Bengaluru has gone viral on social media. In the viral video, a boy is seen driving a bike without a helmet and the girl is sitting on the fuel tank in front of him in a risky position. The incident has raised serious issues about road safety and safe driving.

There has been a scary spike in reckless stunts performed by young motorcyclists across India over the last few months. Such irresponsible activity not only risks the lives of the perpetrators but also poses a serious hazard to other drivers and pedestrians on the road.

Incident caught on camera

The video clip became a hit with the man speeding down through heavy traffic in the middle of a Bengaluru street with total disregard for safety norms. In spite of repeated reminders by the traffic authorities about the risks involved, occurrences of such stunts in public roads still come to light and raise alarm bells for public security and traffic rules.

Two-wheeler registered in Tamil Nadu

The incident was reported to have been filmed on Bengaluru's Sarjapur Main Road. But the bike was Tamil Nadu registered, and this created another controversy. Even as Indian traffic police often ask drivers to follow road safety norms, such incidents still surface to reveal loopholes in enforcement and people's awareness.

Social Media Response: Criticism and Humor The viral stunt elicited a variety of reactions on the internet, ranging from humour to outright denunciation. The most controversial part, though, was the tide of xenophobia against migrants in Bengaluru. Most of the users gave the Tamil Nadu registration plate as a justification for their anti-migration sentiments.

One of the users criticized both the couple and the couple's parents, stating, "This isn't all their fault—it's the parents' fault as well. If the police do nothing, it's their fault as well." Another of the users mentioned that the woman appeared ill or intoxicated but opined that an ambulance or a taxi should have been summoned and not resort to such a dangerous prank.

No official statement by Bengaluru police till now

Even though the video has gone viral, no official statement was made by the Bengaluru police on the issue so far. In the meanwhile, concerned residents have begun using the city traffic police's name on social media with a tag, demanding tough action against the couple for endangering traffic rules.

A Karnataka Portfolio X (also Twitter) post called upon the authorities to track the vehicle with number TN12W4910 and take firm action so that such an event does not happen again. "Reckless driving should never be tolerated," the post stated.
