Age-Defying Talent

Wang Deshun, 89, is the voice behind Wuliang Xianweng, the arch villain in "Ne Zha 2"1. The film is a Chinese animated blockbuster that is breaking box office records and receiving critical acclaim. Wang is considered a perfect match for the character, who appears amiable but is later revealed to be brutal and ambitious. Wang shared that the character's success stems from the complex, high-quality storytelling found in modern Chinese animation. "Ne Zha 2 " follows the original film, and sees Taiyi Zhenren planning to use the seven-colored lotus to rebuild their bodies of Ne Zha and Aobing, after their souls were saved from catastrophe.

A Colorful Life

Born in Shenyang, Liaoning province, Wang Deshun's career began as a tram conductor and factory worker. At 24, he became a theatre actor, and at 49, he created a mime troupe. Feeling his acting career had stagnated, he resigned at 50 and moved to Beijing with his family.

Defying Age Through Passion

Wang Deshun is renowned in China for his age-defying spirit and fitness1. At 79, he walked shirtless during China Fashion Week, wowing online audiences. He dedicated himself to working out for accurate bodily expressions on stage. At 65, he learned to ride a horse, and at 80, he trained with his daughter to become an amateur DJ. At 85, he became China’s oldest person to receive a pilot’s license.

A Versatile Career

Wang has had roles in classic Chinese films and TV dramas, including Chuang Guandong (2008), Reign of Assassins (2010), and 20 Once Again (2015). He also dubbed a character in the 2016 animated fantasy film Big Fish & Begonia
