A 68-year-old man in a wheelchair was taken to a bank by a Brazilian woman in a shocking instance to obtain a four-figure loan; however, it was later discovered that the man had passed away. The disturbing images from the bank have sparked an intense national debate in Brazil, which has quickly taken place on social media. Workers at the bank in Rio de Janeiro apparently became skeptical of the lady who wheeled the man in and asked for a loan under his name, and on Tuesday they reportedly called emergency authorities. The police said that upon arriving at the scene, emergency personnel discovered the man had passed away.

In the scenario

As per media reports, the woman repeatedly urged her uncle to sign the loan. "Uncle, do you hear me?" You must put your signature here. You cannot proceed if you do not sign. It must be you signing; I am unable to do so. I do what I can." Adding to it, she said, "Sign it, I can't bear headaches anymore. Regular visits to the registry office are taking a toll on me." Authorities are attempting to build a link between the deceased man and the woman. However, the woman's attorney refuted the claims.

Inputs from Brazilian media

According to a well-known newspaper, the lady identified as Vieira was accused of violating a corpse and attempting theft fraud after entering the lender in Rio late on Tuesday with her late uncle. Investigations are being conducted in the interim to ascertain the man's cause and time of death. As per media reports, the woman tried to get a loan of 17,000 reais (about $3,250) in the man's name, claiming to be his 68-year-old niece. According to local investigative chief Fabio Luiz, "she tried to make it look like he was signing the paperwork," as reported by a news website. But when he entered the bank on wheels, he was already dead.
