Inspiring! Andhra Pradesh girl escapes child marriage to score 95.7% in boards!

Child marriage is a human rights violation. Despite laws against it, the practice remains widespread globally. One in every five girls is formally married or in an informal union, before reaching age 18. It is prevalent in India as well. Now, in a heartwarming tale of grit and perseverance, a girl named as S Nirmala escaped child marriage and topped the first year intermediate board examinations in Andhra Pradesh. 

Bright student throughout 

S Nirmala, who is from Pedda Harivanam in Kurnool district, secured 421 marks out 440. She had passed her Class 10 exams last year with 537 marks out of 600.

No fund for education

S Nirmala's parents wanted to marry her earlier but she had something in her which helped her to top the SSC exam. However, her parents tried to convince her saying they could no longer fund her education. But, Nirmala, adamant on pursuing her educational goals in life, aprroached local legislator Y Saiprasad Reddy during an outreach programme last year.

Wants to become IPS officer 

Nirmala with craze to pursue her career got admitted to Kasturba Gandhi Balikala Vidyalaya at Aspari. She wanted to become an IPS officer and work towards aboliton of child marriages in India. Now, rest is history...She has topped the SSC exam.
